Editorial

Dear Customers and Partners,

2015 has come to an end, and MOOG Cleaning Systems had a very good year in a challenging economic environment.

Many Swiss export enterprises have responded to a renewed revaluation of the Swiss Franc in January 2015 with staff reductions and production relocations. MOOG not only held fast to the engineering and manufacturing location, Switzerland, but we will also increase the number of our employees this year. After two new positions last year, four new employees will begin in development, marketing and distribution this year.

Hygiene and cleanliness continue to increase their importance in all sectors. When selecting suitable clean-ing solutions, reliability, economic efficiency and saving resources play a progressively important role. We are exceptionally well positioned here with our products.

A look back at Agrovina Martigny

Every two years, vintners from Switzerland gather at the Agrovina wine technology fair in Martigny. Over 200 exhibitors showed their products to 18,000 visitors from 26 to 29 January 2016.

MOOG Cleaning Systems was present with a booth. Besides barrel cleaning with the current BRA products, the BRM and FR2 Automatic, the topic of wine tank cleaning with the ER-55 and HR-55 tank cleaning equipment was very important. In addition, the suitable MOOG equipment for high-pressure supply with cold and hot water was presented.

The solutions on display for barrel and tank cleaning enjoyed very positive acceptance among the visitors. Several orders for barrel cleaners and high-pressure equipment were completed at the fair. Also, 250 visitors to the booth were questioned about their satisfaction with the cleaning results and expense for this type and scope of tank cleaning.

A look back at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium

Together with ARS/Swash Sanitizing Equipment, MOOG Cleaning Systems participated in the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in Sacramento from 27 to 28 January 2016. With 13,800 visitors, this annual trade fair for viticulture and cellar technology is the most important exhibition for the North American market.

Besides the well-known BRA line of barrel cleaners, we presented the BRM barrel cleaner. Because of the strong earthquakes in the region and especially along the Pacific Coast, barrels and casks must be stored on special, earthquake-safe racks. With the BRM cleaner, it is no longer necessary to lift the barrels from the racks for cleaning. The work process is considerably easier with increased productivity.

Together with Mark Grote, representative of ARS/Swash Sanitizing Equipment, Stefan Exner and Florian Ernst (both from MOOG Cleaning Systems) travelled through the Napa Valley to look over the shoulders of the Californian vintners while they were cleaning their barrels.

A look back at Sival Angers

At the annually occurring SIVAL wine trade fair in Angers, France, this year we were able to be present with the support of our regional reseller, Brault Sarl. Christian Brault and his team are specialists in bottle filling and filtration in the Val de Loire and are distributors for our MOOG products as well as pumps from Pichonneau and the Oenocompteur from Carles.

We presented our products jointly together with the mentioned specialists for wine cellar technology. Thanks to this shared booth, we were able to welcome more visitors at our stand than ever before and therefore generate enthusiasm for our barrel cleaners.

Stand Sival

MOOG Cleaning Systems would like to thank Glenn Caster, the owner of ARS/Swash Sanitizing Equip-ment, and his team for the terrific collaboration during the trade fair activities.

New Employees

Markus Schmid and Tindara Fernández started at MOOG on 1 March.

Tindara Fernández is responsible for the newly created position of marketing and product manager. She will increase the presence of MOOG in the market, support sales as well as our dealers, and look after the further development of our range of products.

Markus Schmid will further the development of the proved MOOG products with his team as the head of development and construction. He will also focus on the flow of modern technologies and concepts into the development of new products. This is a key position for our technology-focused enterprise.

Finalist Swiss Export Award

The successful development of an international presence is a major challenge especially for medium-sized companies. Today, MOOG is well known around the world for wine barrel cleaning with products used by vintners on every continent.

The continual expansion of our exports and our great acceptance in France, the leading wine-producing country, resulted in MOOG being selected by the jury as a finalist for the Swiss Export Award 2016. The winner will be announced in Zurich on 21 April – please keep your fingers crossed with us!

Tightening and streamlining the product line for tank cleaners

With 1,000 standard products, MOOG has the most comprehensive range in this sector by far. We have sold many of these products very well. In recent years, we have sold others only in very small quantities or not at all.

Therefore, we have decided to discontinue the R-32, RD-70 and R-2D cleaning heads in our product range. Furthermore, we will no longer offer shaft lengths over 2 meters as standard length products, but they will still be available as custom lengths. In addition, we have reduced the length gradations among the custom lengths. All changes will take effect from 1 May 2016.
